Fathom has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Moses the Black, a gritty, suspense-charged drama set in the heart of Chicago’s gang landscape—yet inspired by a figure from the 4th century. It’s a daring fusion: street warfare meets spiritual reckoning, ancient redemption reflected in modern violence. And the trailer already promises a powerful, haunting ride.
At the center of the story is Malik, a hardened Chicago gang leader played by Omar Epps, whose commanding presence adds weight to every moment. Malik’s empire is cracking from within, especially thanks to 2wo-3ree, the hot-headed, swagger-filled young crew leader portrayed by Wiz Khalifa. Their tense power struggle is only intensified by the looming threat of rival gang boss Straw, played with icy charisma by Quavo.
The film draws inspiration from the real-life tale of St. Moses the Black, a former bandit-turned-monk in the 4th century whose transformation remains one of history’s most gripping arcs of repentance. In a powerful parallel narrative, Chukwudi Iwuji portrays the saint himself, grounding the film’s modern chaos in ancient moral clarity.
The supporting cast strengthens the film’s Chicago pulse, with appearances from Corey Hendrix, Cliff Chamberlain, Ahmad Ferguson, Sambou “Bubba” Camara, Kierra Bunch, Skilla Baby, and even heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder.
Presented by Simeon Faith, NM Cinematic Fund, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the project carries not just star power but heavy thematic ambition. Under the direction of Yelena Popovic, Moses the Black aims to bridge centuries—asking how violence, loyalty, guilt, and redemption echo across time.
Slated for theatrical release on January 30th, 2026, the film has already struck a nerve. With its electric cast and its unexpected blend of spirituality and street realism, Moses the Black could become one of next year’s most talked-about crime dramas.
